Study USA and Study Abroad

Study USA programs are short-term domestic travel classes typically offered during intersession terms. Students submit an application to the Study USA office, and once approved, will be enrolled in the program of their choice. Apply early – enrollment is limited. The Study USA office welcomes applications from UM undergraduate and graduate students for participation in Study USA courses throughout the year. Students must have completed any prerequisites for the particular course of interest as stated in The University of Mississippi course catalog. Additionally, students must be in good academic standing. For UM students applying to the Study USA program, you must submit the following:

● The Study USA application

● An unofficial transcript

● An application fee of $50 will be billed to your bursar account when the application is received.

Exploring Florence: Culture & Cuisine

If studying abroad is calling you, then come to explore Florence and the Tuscany regions in Italy. Travel for this course is for 2 weeks in May or June. Students visit wineries among the many vineyards just outside of Florence, travel to the town of Modena to explore their famous balsamic vinegar and visit a cheese making factory near Bologna. Students have time to explore the cities, including a guided tour the Uffizi Art Gallery, one of the oldest and best-known art galleries in Europe and participate in an olive oil tasting and cooking class at the Apicius Culinary School!

This course will explore the culture and cuisine of Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada.  The Mi’kmaq natives were the original inhabitants of this maritime province, known as the birthplace of Confederation.  Rich with Celtic, Acadian, and Mi’kmaq heritage, students will experience the culture and cuisine through participating in food- and agriculture-related tours and experiences, as well as other experiences that highlight PEI’s rich heritage, including its literary history (Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maude Montgomery) and Acadian influence, from which the Cajun culture evolved.
